Greetings from Croatia!
(DATELINE - CHRIS) Hey guys, I am about to finish off our Italy reports, but before I do, here's a quick greeting from Croatia. We have been holed up in the Lapad neighborhood of Dubrovnik, which is a peninsula on a peninsula between the Adriatic and Port of Dubrovnik, and seems to be a bit of a resort area.Speaking of Croatia, did you know that while Croatia joined the EU in 2013, it still has its own currency? Apparently, the Euro-zone financial crisis delayed Croatia's EU currency adoption, which is now projected for 2019. In the meantime, enjoy the Kuna, and its little sister the Lipa! There are about 6 2/3 Kuna in a dollar, so figuring out prices is a bit more difficult than my dropped-out-of-math-for-good-in-12th-grade-mind, but we all muddle through somehow.
Close observers will notice that the 1 Kuna coin (about 15¢?) has a weasel on it for some reason. RESPECT.
